News about Office furniture in 138th Canton Fair

The 138th Canton Fair (China Import and Export Fair) concluded its second phase on Oct 27, 2025, with the furniture sector emerging as a highlight, particularly in office furniture innovation and sustainable design.

Held at the Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou, Phase 2 (October 23–27) featured over 10,000 exhibitors showcasing a diverse range of products, including office furniture that blended ergonomic functionality, smart technology, and eco-friendly materials .

Notable trends in the office furniture segment included intelligent workspace solutions and green manufacturing. For example, several exhibitors introduced height-adjustable desks with built-in wireless charging and modular storage systems that adapt to hybrid work environments. Smart glass partitions, which allow seamless transition between open-plan collaboration and private work zones, also drew significant attention . Sustainability remained a key focus, with products crafted from recycled materials such as GRS-certified plastics and reclaimed wood. The "Blue Whale Plastic Chair" by Let Right Industrial Corp., made entirely from recycled ocean waste, exemplifies this shift toward circular economy principles .

Exhibitors emphasized the integration of health and wellness into office design. Ergonomic chairs with advanced lumbar support and pressure-relieving cushions were prominently displayed, addressing the growing demand for long time sitting-friendly solutions. One exhibitor, a Chinese company highlighted their latest line of affordable yet high-quality office chairs designed for both comfort and durability, targeting small and medium-sized enterprises globally.

The fair also served as a platform for global trade partnerships, with international buyers from 222 countries and regions attending. Major retailers like Target and Kingfisher expressed interest in sourcing office furniture from Chinese suppliers, citing competitive pricing and rapid customization capabilities . Despite geopolitical challenges, the Canton Fair recorded a 6.3% increase in overseas participation compared to the previous session, reflecting sustained confidence in China’s role as a manufacturing hub.

Overall, the 2025 October session underscored China’s commitment to leading the future of office furniture through technological innovation, sustainability, and user-centric design. As hybrid work models continue to evolve, exhibitors are poised to meet evolving global demands with adaptable, smart, and eco-conscious solutions.
